Cosmin Matei is a theater director and teaching assistant at the Faculty of Theater and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He has a master’s degree in performing arts and graduated in theater directing in 2012 and holds a BA in graphics from the National University of Arts, Bucharest, 2006. His research combines, in the field of functional contextualism, theatrical practice with scientific approaches in the field cognitive-behavioral studies for the development of self-training principles that facilitate psychological flexibility and resilience in developing the creativity of actors and directors.
He has signed shows such as Occupy Yourself, Reacting Chernobyl or IntimIdate Me together with Váróterem Projekt group, from Cluj-Napoca, using devised methods and in house dramaturgy. The last show, Pause, was performed at the First Theater / Перший театр in Lviv, Ukraine.
Among his publications are: “New paradigms in actor training – attention” in the magazine Theatrical Colloquium no. 8/2017, “Anatomy of a reception – The Encounter” in Játéktér magazine no. 4/2019.
