The speakers in Session 1 introduced new approaches in the theatre, ones that make it possible for non-traditional elements to be partners to artists and a means of communication toward the spectator.
Shuntaro Yoshida explored participatory choreography in contemporary dance. Specifically, he focused on the “dancer” as an autonomic and heteronomic partner to the choreographer. Lukáš Brychta’s presentation explored scenography as a partner to the actor through its narrativity and interactivity. Finally, in her Ph.D. research, Eliška Raiterová focuses on the question whether immersive and interactive theatres are reactions to the absence of initiation rituals in our lives. She is also attempting to identify the archetypal motives in the hero’s’ journey in contemporary theatre.
